Thus far unof ficial flgures have failed to satisfactorily demon strate it Both sides have insisted that tbe other was bcaicn ice great ouuy jl none of such decisions The question must go to tbe body that has been legally constituted for just such purpose and happily that body is one in which every fair and reasonable man has the profoundest confidence This is tbe situation to day and it is one vote of the State as reported in the inomihgf papers It then stood with Cleveland plurality at 1460 NEWSPAPER RETURNS THE PRESENT POSITION THE METROPOLITAN PRESS New York November The Sun says: One of tbe most remarkable features of this exceedingly close and exciting election has been the wiae dis crepancy between the various computations of tbe result in New York State offered to the public from different sources Not only have both sides claimed a plurality for their candidate but their estimates have been as much as 20000 apart although it was apparent on Wednesday morning that the result must be very close Returns collected by the buu from every county iu uw oiaiu huvc xivaai maov indicated a small plurality for Cleveland and when this has been slowly cut down as corrected figures have reached us it seems now to have reached a point where comparatively little change is likely to be made by further revision While the Associated Dress returns from election districts appear to vary considerably from the fig ures we obtained and to give some countenance to the of tbe Republican National Committee that Blaine has carried the State by a very small plurality yet we have so far been unable to discov er any reason for expecting any material change in the result as shown by our own carefully collected returns which give Cleveland a plurality of 1206 in this State The Times computes the plurality of Cleveland at 18GJ The Herald places plurality at 1906 The World says probable plurality in the State is 1414 'ivihnnn vtrn tvsi Estimates as to the re sult of this State continue fluctuating in such a way as the returns from time to time come in as to show that the margin is so narrow that the official count will be indispensable to aeterinine the result THE ALBANY
