AGAINST HER THE INK AND OTHER COURT CASES Annie Patterson is a handsome an plucky Scotch lass of 20 wLo has cressed the ocean and traveled from Glasgow to Detroit to se cure the undoing of what she claims as a great wrong to her mother The whole story is told in the cold formal phraseology of a legal document filed in the Superior Court yesterday and seems almost incredible Annie is the authorized agent of her mother and has jietitioued the Superior Court to set aside the decree of divorce which her father obtained on March 29 last The document asserts that in 1S74 and for some years previons John and Jane Patterson formerly of Glasgow Scotland resided on Grand River avenue near Sixteenth street with their four children Annie being the eld est In 1874 it is claimed Patterson com pelled his and the children to return to Glasgow giving them the money to pay their passage It is also stated that he gave his wife a cruel beating the day before her de parture and that he was Sued sent him by his wife In 1S7S the younger children died of scarlet fever and Mrs Patterson had to have them buried at parish expense Divorce proceedings were instituted in the Superior Court uy John Patterson against Jane Pattei son on October 19 1885 desertion being alleged as the basis of the suit There was of eburse no personal service on the de fendant and in time a decree was granted Ot all A few friends iu Glasgow were appealed to aud enough money raised to pay one fare to America Then the brave daughter set forth alone on a long ocean voyage and arriving at Detroit caused an investigation to be inade and when that was dune filed her peti tion She found friends of her mother here with whom she is stopping It is asserted in the petition that Patterson owns the homestead on Grand River avenue and is in comfortable circumstances chief aim of the present proceeding is to pro tect Mrs property rights The hearing on the petition anl Judge Chip decision there on ill be interesting if the allegations in the petition are sustained and the decree set rside Air Patterson and his present wife will find themselves in an un comfortable predicament MISS OBJECTIONS Laura
