the old myth entrance which have not been used for several years and which were insecurely fast ened The turnkey was absent at the time as was also the sheriff the former by directions from the latter to attend to an examination ot a prisoner before one of tho justices The several ladies who were in the house prepared for resistance but were frightened by the threats and curses of the prisoners A vigilant search was immediately instituted a large number of citizens joining In' the chase led by the constable and deputy sheriff The woods for two or three miles west and north were thoroughly scoured but up to present writing neither of them have been captured although they had been seen several times The sheriff naw offers 150 reward for their recapture Midnight assaults aud highway fiendish manner The alarm was brought to Policeman Graham ifcho proceeded to house for the purpose of arresting him So soon however as he stepped inside lhe crazy fiend seized a tea pot full of hot tea and flung it at him with terrible force but by a lucky maneuver Graham dodged the missile and closed inwith the refractory young man He broke away from him and stripped for a hand to hand yesterday morning Policeman Sleeper whose beat is on Jefferson avenue in the Tenth Ward discovered three sapicious looking persons moving up the avenue evidently bent on mis chief He kept an eye on them and followed carefully along in order to ascertain what their intentions were They finally stopped at Buck store on the corner of Jefferson avenue and Chene street snd tried to effect an en
