Lentine Jr. held a lot of jobs in his lont; life, but his heart belonged to coaching- "He coached baseball, football and basketball, and he won many championships," his wife, Bea, said Monday. "It was something he loved." He did it at St. Mary School, Wayne, for 20 years, ending in 1971.

He was inducted into the Catholic Coaches Hall of Fame in 1975 and earned the Catholic Youth Organization's James Coughlin Award last year. Mr. Lentine died of a heart attack Friday at Oakwood Annapolis Hospital, Wayne. He was 79 and had lived in Wayne since 1955. At St.

Mary, he also taught mathematics and science. When St. Mary ended its ath-Ufk-g- program, he became an I for Westland then got a job agent for the Wayne-Westland School District. He retired after 18 years, but he didn't stop working. "He had his own appraisal company, Lentine (len-TEE-nee) Appraisal his wife said.

"And he was a consultant." In 19G0-7O, he was a member of the Wayne City Council and chairman of the city's centennial celebration. Mr. Lentine was born in Detroit and graduated from St. Catherine High School. He joined the Army during World War II, became a medic and served in Germany, where he was awarded the Silver Star.

After the war, he received a bachelor's degree at the University of Detroit. Mr. Lentine and his wife of 51 years had nine children and 16 grandchildren. In addition to his wife and grandchildren, survivors include four sons, Manuel III, Peter, Jim and Sam, and five daughters, Josephine Lentine, Jeannine DuPrie, Renee Hill, Suzanne Johnson and Michelle Way. His first greatgrandchild, a boy, was born 45 minutes after he died.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church, 34530 Michigan Wayne. Visitation is one hour before the service. Arrangements are by the Harry J.

He was 60 and lived in Woodhaven. In 2000, he was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, based in Burns, and his latest CD is called "Rockabilly Hall of Fame Artist James Wayne Boyer Favorite Collection." Mr.

Boyer was born in Ste. Genevieve, James Wayne Boyer witn music in his blood. His mother played the bass, his father the guitar. By the time their son was 3, he had won a singing contest. Before he was a teen, he was singing with small bands, and at 15, he started playing drums and singing with the Red Kohn Band.
