She is sur vived by her chil dren, Verna Leight on of Denver. Cole rado, Edwina Bas sett of Seattle, Washington and Ron Woszezak of Lake Bay, Washing ton, as well as seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three husbands, each of whom loved her dearly. Ed Woszczak, Stuart Avers and George Barker. Bertha, the middle of nine children, cherished being surrounded by her family, their Polish traditions, music and food. She was the glue that held her extended family together, an active and loving presence in the lives of each of us. She will be sorely missed.

Age 76, of Farmington Hills, MI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 9, 2009 after a difficult battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, with whom he was a loving husband for 53 years.

He was a great father to Donald (Joan), Charles (Dara), Marie (Steven) Barnes and Michele (Timothy) Myers, and a loving, He grandfather to his ten grandchildren. is also survived by his sister, Delores (the late Tony) Ajlouny and brother Edward (Virginia) Blaty and was predeceased by his sister Jeanette (the late Monroe) Seaback. He was born and raised in Detroit, the city he truly felt a part of, and later raised his family in Taylor, a suburb of Detroit. He proudly served as a captain in the United States Marine Corps. As an attorney he enjoyed helping others through his law practice from which he vowed never to retire.

He was a teacher at Lowrey Junior High School and Henry Ford Community College where he inspired many students through his passion for teaching. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather because family was the most important thing to him. He will be greatly missed by many. Visitation Sunday from 3-9 pm at the Harry J. Funeral will follow. HUGHES HOWARD LEWIS Age 85 of Howell, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009. He was born November 9, 1923 in Granite City, IL, the son of Lewis E. and Lydia E. Hughes.

Howard graduated from Springfield Senior High School in Missouri in 1941 and attended Southwestern Missouri State Teachers College before joining the Army Air Force Cadet Program in WWl. He served his country as a Flying Aerial Gunnery Instructor in the B-29 Program of the 20th Air Force. After an honorable discharge he attended Western Michigan University, Howard was a part of General Motors Management Detroit Diesel Division. He married Alice Mae Galloway in Dearbom, Mi on June 16, 1951. Surviving is his wife, Alice; four children, Janet (Roger) Shoemaker of Bloomfield Hills, Jack (Mary) Hughes of Phoenix, AZ.

Todd (Joyce) Hughes of Grosse lie and Sally (Albert) Chan of Howell; nine grandchildren, Brian, Jacob, Aaron, Shawn, Scott, Eric, Adam, Rachel and Rebecca and three great grandchildren, Roan, Ryan and Aaron. Howard is survived by four brothers, Donald, Stanley, Darrell and Moris. He was preceded in death by his brother. Dewey, sister, Ruth and granddaughter, Ella. After retirement, Howard completed a degree in fine arts, producing many paintings from his studio that his family will remember him by and treasure.

He was a member of The American Legion, Howell Masonic Lodge Valley of Detroit Scottish Rite and the Moslem Shrine Temple of Detroit. Born August 25, 1958 in London, Kentucky, he was the son of Joseph and Wilma (Roberts) Jarvis, Formerly of Detroit and a Howell resident since 1995, Jimmy was a painter and owner of Jarvis Painting in Howell. Beloved husband of Connie (Toft) whom he married in Las Vegas. NV on October 3, 1997. Loving father of Christina Miller and Christopher (Lisa) Keils. Step-father of Jennifer Boyd and Joseph (Gina) Boyd.

Also survived by three grandchildren; parents, Edward and Wilma Clark: siblings, Vickie (Gene) Rosick, Joe (Debbie Miller) Jarvis, Keith (Karen) Wooten and Diane (Lester) Rollen; mother-in-law, Helen Toft; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bet (Dan), Sandra (Maurice), Colleen (Johnny), Donald Cheryl), Krissy (Jeff); several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Ray and daughter, Jacqueline Renee. "BUD" Of Detroit, Michigan passed on September 10, 2009 at home under the loving care of family and with the assistance of Hospice of Michigan, at the age of 83. Bud was born in Decorah, Iowa May 2, 1926. He moved with his parents to Detroit at the age of 5. Bud retired from the Detroit Police Department in 1986 as a Detective Sergeant after 34 years of service.

Bud and his wife Elaine were extremely active in various Masonic Organizations. Bud was initiated into Tue bor Lodge and is a Past Master and Life Member of Berkley Lodge 536 and a member of Jefferson Lodge Shores Chapter Royal Arch Masons: Monroe Council Royal and Select Masons: Mt. Clemens Commandry; Moslem Shrine Temple of Detroit, where he was very active on the Crippled Children Committee sponsoring over 500 children to the Shrine r's Hospital; Royal Order of the Jesters; Past Sovereign Prince, Carson CouncilPrinces of Jerusalem Scottish Rite Bodies of Detroit. Bud was honored with the con ferring of the 33rd in 1986; St. Clement Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine.

He was also a Past Patron and Life Member of Jefferson Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Bud was a veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and The Sons of Norway and was a Kentucky Colonel. Bud will be greatly missed by his Fraternal Brothers, Sisters and friends. Bud is survived by his wife of 60 years Elaine (Bergum), his children Cathryn and Michael Morse of Somerset Township, Michigan, daughter Cynthia and son Steven of Detroit. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Gladys Keech, and his only sister and her husband Donna and Jack Cunningham.

Bud was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Grosse Pointe. The family wishes to extend their extreme gratitude to the Congregation for their support and assistance. An na was born in De troit on May 2. 1926, a daughter of the late Aloysius and Katherine (Schwiehofer) Umlauf. She was united in marriage to John Kronner on June 18, 1949 in St. David's Catho lic Church of Detroit. Anna had worked for the Detroit Bank and Trust and Comerica Banks as a teller and manager until her re firement in 1988.

She then worked for the Macomb Schools Fire Academy as a Clerk and retired for a second time in 1995. She loved crochet, cross word puzzles, bowl ing. pinochle, painting and playing the or gan. Anna was a member of the Fraser Se niors and the Senior Bowling Team. She was very out going and will be deeply missed by the many she has touched in her lifetime.

Anna is survived by her loving children, Walter (Cheryl), Thomas, Joseph (Lisa), Colette, Patrick (Nancy) and Robert (Mary): her sister Margaret Vietlin, 17 grandchildren and son in law.
