It makes her parents happy, too. EY HELEN1- BOWER Free Pre Movie Critic Kop -1 Dop-Sops, Dop-O-Nop'-Top Mop-T-Sop-Sop Top-Hop-I-JSop. -For readers who haven't broken the code of Penny Pringle's "op talk" in the Detroit Free Press funnies, the sentence above, in plain English, is "Kids, don't miss this." 1 is a Cinemascope and Eastman Color movie Robertson), older than the others. Apparently just a happy-go-lucky beachcomber, Kahoona particularly interests Moondoggie (Darren).

The younger chap admires the elder's freedom and Independence. What is sound about "Gid-get" is the understanding with which both Francie and Moondoggie are presented, and the sympathetic way in which Miss Dee and Darren cross the threshold into more adult life. THE TITLE is a word coined by the fellows to describe Francie, a cross between a girl and a midget. She and Moondoggie are thrown together, first when he saves her from drowning and In later incidents. He doesn't have eyes for her, and she thinks she has a crush on Kahoona.

The night of a big beach party, too juvenile for Kohoona, Francie follows him to a beach house he has borrowed for the nighL That's when Moondoggie realizes that he cares enough to save her from a reckless desire to grow up too fast. He needn't have been afraid, because Kahoona is a right guy. THE OXLY thing about "Gidget" that I found disturbing is the apparent helplessness of Francie's father and mother, played by Arthur O'Connell and Mary La Roche. They are nice people. They want to safeguard and protect their daughter.

But they can only stand by when she rushes off in the car to go to the beach party, to which she wasn't invited. Everyone own r.u. "MAGNIFICENT ENTERTAINMENT." Make sure you and your family see It at the UNITED ARTISTS THEATRE for ONLY AT THIS THEATRE In this called "Gidget" that should have teenagers jamming the Broadway Capitol Theater, beginning Friday. It's summer sea-sand-and-sun fun in which Sandra Dee and James Darren learn a little more about growing up and being attracted by the opposite sex. Older people can enjoy watching the bright, happy young ones idling away the hours on the Pacific ocean beach at Mali-bu, where much of the movie is set.

They'll see some quite exciting surf board riding, too, in the sport imported from our 50th state. LIKE THE maiden in the Victorian poem, Sandra Dea is Francle Lawrence, "standing with reluctant feet where the brook and river meet." The three other girls who take her to the beach are more aware, more sophisticated In their calculated maneuvers to attract attention. They think Francle just doesn't know how to have a good time. In a kid sort of way she hangs around a group of fellows who make their headquarters at a beach hut.
