Evaporative coolers were used to -cool businesses and homes until air I conditioning became common. Palmer also invented a modified radiator for; Packard automobiles in the 1920s. Donald Sinclair, 75, a pioneer in; radio en eineerine. for the Group I Acting Company, a performance troupe founded by John Houseman.

He joined the Herbert Barrett agency about a year ago. Mr. Hill is survived by his mother, Beatrice; four sisters, Kathleen Meagher, Patricia Dubey, Barbara Lackie and Jeri Lynn, and two brothers, Lewis and Stephen. Hill, a theater standout at the University of Michigan who became a vice-president of a leading New York arts management firm, was found stabbed to death Monday in his Manhattan apartment.

New York police discovered the body in his fifth-floor apartment, which they said had been ransacked. Mr. Hill, 33, who was single and lived alone, apparently had been killed during a robbery attempt, according to detectives. Mr. Hill "was one of those special people, a real knockout guy," said J.

Roland Wilson, his former U-M instructor who is now producing director of Detroit's Music Hall Center. "I was able to help him get his first job, and then he took off from there. (Bud) Brown, a Southfield insurance agency vice-president, will be at 1 1:30 a.m.

today at Ira Kaufman Chapel, 18325 W. Nine Mile, Southfield. Burial will be in Beth El Memorial Park, Livonia. Mr. Brown, 71, of Farmington Hills, died Monday at Hospice of Southeastern Michigan, Southfield.

He had been vice-president of Brown-Dreifus Agency for 10 years. He was a former commodore of the Great Lakes Yacht Club, a past president of the Michigan chapter of the Society of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters and a member of Temple Beth El. A former Eagle Scout, Mr. Brown received the Gold Palm Award, and in 1929 he represented Detroit at the World Scout Jamboree in England. He is survived by his wife, Miriam; two sons, Stephen and Roger; a daughter, Joan Coatta; three sisters, and two grandchildren.

Margaret Thompson, ex-MESC supervisor A memorial service for Margaret Jason Thompson, a retired Michigan Employment Security Commission supervisor, will be at 7 p.m. today at James H. Cole Funeral Home, 13631 Puritan, Detroit. Mrs. Thompson, 72, died Saturday at her Detroit home.

A MESC employe for 36 years, Mrs. Thompson retired in 1975 as a referee supervisor. She was a member of the NAACP, the YWCA, the Detroit Symphony Women's Committee and the Dolittles Bridge Club. She is survived by a brother and a niece. Memorials to the Capuchin Monastery, 1740 Mt.

He is survived by his wife, Sara; a son, Dr. Stuart; a daughter, Phyllis Schapira; a brother; two sisters, and three grandchildren. Leslie D. Bloom, 77, Detroit area lawyer A funeral for Leslie D. Bloom, a Detroit area lawyer for more than 50 years, will be at 1:30 p.m.

After graduating from the University of Detroit Law School in 1931, Mr. Bloom practiced law with his father, Joseph, for 24 years. For the last 30 years, he was a senior partner with Rosenbaum, Bloom, Kaufman, Appel, Galinsky Meyer- Sinclair Radio Engineers.
