Anderson's accusations against KMndicnst snd Mitchell is a memo she prepared for her Washington boss. She left Washington last week as Anderson's allegations were published and the committee was unable to serve a subpena on her. She was located in a Denver hospital Saturday and a subpena was served on her late Saturday night. But her doctors reported Ihe woman iU.with heart trouble, and her early appearance as a w.i seemed unlikely. On Sunday, her physicians said it may be more than a week before she is able to leave the hospital.

Drs. David Garland and Victor Livka released a stair-nu-nt saying: "Airs. Beard is suffering from impending coi-onary thrombosis due to acute coronary ischemia. Additional stress could have precipitated the thrombosis with resultant permanent heart damage or death. "Dr.

Officials also a rgue that "policemen and firemen must live near their work stations in the event of an emergency." The Supreme Court decision ended the argument. AS SOON as the machinery is geared up, 2.UU0 policemen who live outside Detroit now estimated to be about 25 percent of the force will be asked to move back. Most of those who will mak'j the move are "hard-lino, hard-nosed people," according lo Thomas Ferrebee, director of recruiting for the police department. "1'orced residency won't do anything but make them more racist," he said.

According to Ferrebee, those who live in the suburbs are the older, more affluent Cx p' Nr ri policemen who could afford to leave the city, and who, because of their age, are unlikely to quit the police department to seek private employment. "But if they don't comply, if they don't move in," Ferrebee warned, "I'm going to have to find a lot of men." DETROIT'S non-police employes are Hot likely to resign their city jobs either, especially when getting a job in Detroit or elsewhere is significantly more difficult than it used to be. Charles Meyer, secretary of I the Detroit Civil Service Com-1 mission, believes that "many rity employes have moved out I of the city thinking that the I court would rule their way." These employes may now be forced lo move back into Detroit because of the court decision and because of Meyer's residence investigator, who brought Nil investigations to the bearing stage last year, causing 59 move-ins and 22 resignations. An appeal In another court case, however, could slow I down any move-back order. A WAYNE County Circuit judge ruled last year that Detroit fireman Dale Grable, who lived in a Detroit apartment while his wife and seven children lived in a White Lake Township cottage, was violating the city's residency law.

The court said that his residence was where his wife and family lived. Grable claimed that since he paid taxes and rent in Detroit, he was a city resident, lie is appealing the case. A spokesman for Mayor Gribbs argues that "residency provides us with a better understanding of city problems the quality city ser- ices benefits by the fact that civil servants are also recipients of the same service And according to a high city official who moved into Detroit on the day of his appointment, "the taxpayers have a I right to expect that their pub-I lie officials are part of their community we need people to give leadership and vi-! tality to the city."
